GRAPHIC DESIGNER, ILLUSTRATOR & PHOTOGRAPHER

HI, I’m Fran Simpson

I am a South African who's been living in Toronto for the past 15 years. I recently relocated to Vancouver to pursue a more active and outdoor lifestyle. My love of the mountains and ocean drew me to BC, where I have been combining my love of art, design, photography, and adventure. While I am currently located in Vancouver, I call many places home, which has allowed me to see the world through many different lenses and created an appreciation for all cultures, perspectives, and stories. Photography, illustration, and design are creative passions that allow me to explore and express ideas from a unique perspective.

My educational background began in traditional art which eventually led me to a Bachelor's Degree in Media, Information and Technoculture (MIT) from Western University. Upon graduation, I pursued Internships that paved the way to a career working in Broadcast TV in the camera department, combining my love of photography and film. While one passion was nurtured, it revealed that my love of illustration, art, and design was left unattended, leading back to my roots and my discovery of Toronto Film School's Graphic Design and Interactive Media program. At TFS, I embraced my passion for art, design, illustration, and imagery and began a new chapter as a Graphic Designer.

MY SERVICES

An aesthetic approach to the development and execution of print publications, that focuses on the layout, composition, and imagery of design. For example: books, book covers, articles, magazines, brochures, posters, and packaging design.

EDITORIAL & PRINT DESIGN

Visually communicating ideas, stories, emotion, and concepts through artistic expression, digital drawing, and imagery. This includes but is not limited to posters, flyers, infographics, book covers, and digital imagery.

ILLUSTRATION

Creating a cohesive visual identity for brands across all materials, including logo, colour palette, typography and all other design components that makes the brand both recognizable and consistent across all visual platforms.

BRANDING & LOGO DESIGN

Designing, developing, and creating websites from establishing the visual layout and aesthetics of the design, to the front end development and its functionality.

WEBSITE DESIGN

Using text, imagery, illustration, and animation to convey information through motion graphics.

MOTION GRAPHICS

Capturing subjects in commercial quality photographs that utilize creativity, technical expertise, and composition skills to produce and preserve images that tell a story or record an event. Whether used solely for visuals or for the purpose of integrating the stories into design.
